The only requirment for this is knowledge of bass notes, scales, and chords.

When making a generic blues bass line, you stick with the root, 3rd, and 5th. As in a 12 Bar Blues in C would go...

|--------------||--------------||--------------||--------------|
|--2--5--2-5---||--2--5--2-5---||--2--5--2-5---||--2--5--2-5---|
|3-------------||3-------------||3-------------||3-------------|
|--------------||--------------||--------------||--------------|

|--2--5--2-5---||--2--5--2-5---||--------------||--------------|
|3-------------||3-------------||--2--5--2-5---||--2--5--2-5---|
|--------------||--------------||3-------------||3-------------|
|--------------||--------------||--------------||--------------|

|--4--7--4-7---||--2--5--2-5---||--------------||--------------|
|5-------------||3-------------||--2--5--2-5---||--2--5--2-5---|
|--------------||--------------||3-------------||3-------------|
|--------------||--------------||--------------||--------------|

That's just a generic bass line, following the chord. It works for most blues stuff, but more to come later!
