The Sick and Twisted

You know what is truly sick and twisted? The fact that every huge metal act always has some shit band opening for them. Iron Maiden had Mastadon (Which is comparebaly awesome!) 2 summers ago and Bullet For My Valentine last summer! What is with that? 3 summers ago they had Motorhead and Dio! Anyways, Amon Amarth played with Trivium and CoB, Qou Vadis with Dyed In The Wool, and the list can go on. It's like major bands are picking up shite on the bottom of thier shoe and dragging it along. Although, mind you, Bullet for My Valentine touring with Maiden was probably the worst experience of their touring career, which so much garbage being thrown at them. But now Slayer has Unearth opening for them, and I draw the line, I shall not be going. I've seen slayer before, so it's not a big deal, but if they had a good opening act i would have gone. but Unearth? They are going to get massacred by real slayer fans. The fact they attempt to add Melody to there metal/mallcore style will get them the slayering of all slayerings....at least i hope so. When will bands get the idea and bring along decent bands with them. The best supporting act I've ever seen for a Huge band was when Gamma Ray had Goat Horn, and Sodum brought along Finntroll (but they also had Burn To Black, but they were the local opener). Anyone else notice this trend?

I dont think its just metal bands. A lot of great bands have bad bands as opening bands.

Yeah, i have heard alot of people come back from rock shows and be like, "the band was great but the openers sucked ass." And it suck that bads with talent are paired with horrible bands with no talent. Damn Shame

The quo vadis and dyed in the wool thing really isnt comparible, cause it wasnt like Dyed inthe wool was ther efor the whole tour, they were just local openers (no doubt shitty ones), but im pretty the club just finds the cheapest local bands they can find and unfortunately around the hammer most of the metal acts are shit.
But yeah, that iron maiden/bullet for my valentine thing was complete bullshit, thank god we missed it.
sometimes i wish bands just didnt have any opening act at all, like the doors, that was fuckin sweet, you just go, see the band you want to see play some sweet ass mafuckin music, then you leave with only pleasent memories of how awesome it was. Plus you dont get hungry as shit cause you've been there for hours and have inhaled a shitload of weed smoke haha, and thus dont have to waste money on the horridely overpriced food!
