Quick question...

I just bought a Epiphone Les Paul starter kit. Its the special II pack that comes in either sunburst or ebony. I also bought an introductory dvd to teach some basic stuff in a rock oriented style. My question is this: if any of you have played the Les Paul special II with the original strings that come with it, do the strings sound bad to you. Even though I tuned them using a tuner, they just don't sound as good as the instructors guitar in the video, even though his guitar looks similar to mine.
Could anyone tell me if its the amp or the string causing the problem cause I've heard good things about the guitar itself.

Hello btw

both the strings and the amp... check the other thread about packages... click here to read it!!

your strings won't last long when you play daily... so I'd recommend to buy dean markley strings or D'addario strings... in my opinion the best (dean markley is cheaper...)!!

and it's clear that the guitarplayer on the DVD has a better sound, because I don't think that he plays with a starter kit 10"W amp^^ ... If you don't want to buy a new amp, you could try some effectboards or padels (i can recommend boss...) to improve your sound...!!

i hope I could help you!!

I say just change the strings into whatever you prefer. You dont have to keep the original strings on it. usuall the original strings suck and will break pretty fast. They are already pretty dusty and all that problably because they just sit around. If you are in a guitar center they are played alot. If you have trouble changing the strings take it to a tech. guy. Just chose the strings and get them changed. I suggest for an all around feel get some D'addario XL Lights. Can't go wrong with those.
