Oh man that was awesome. That is the funniest thing I have heard all day and I've been watching the Comedy Central Telephone (aka Way Too Many Stars or something like that). Synyster Gates wanks his guitar more then a lonely man wanks his 'guitar' while watching One Night In Paris. He knows some neat appregios, and has some decent speed behind him. But please, Eddie Van Halen? Most of you know I am not even the greatest Van Halen fan (i niether like or dislike them). I saw Avenged Sevenfold live (it was free) and it was an entertaining show, but their was more muscianship on stage when the guy from Death By Stereo came out on stage and tried to let one go (fortunatly the pressure was too much for him and he coudln't get it up). Here is a solo by Mr. Synester Gates (I would like to take this time to point out the awfulness of this name. Because we all know how cool evil, grim, death like nicknames are in music , especially popped-hardcore).
Sure the little beginning isn't bad, sounds a little familiar, no? Oh right! Its a simple scale! But the bends, oh god, cut off my ears. I could do better bends then that when I did it accidentally cause I didn't know how to play guitar. And man, I love repeating hammer-ons umpteen times too, it's so cool. Alos, why does he has a whammy bar? Just for that two seconds? I've never seebn Avenged Sevenfold use it before. The Tapping...well, ah, I don't even think that deserves my time, or death to my ears to listen to it again. A note to you kids, just because you have cut off gloves, black nail polish, and a group of 10,000 kids in front of you doesn't give you the right to rape the beautiful object called a guitar solo which People like Ted Nugent, Steve Howe, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Dick Dale, Eddie Van Halen, Hendrix, Tony Iommi and many other great players took as a serious and very fun part of music.
If this is today's guitar god...kill me now!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- RIGHT HEAVY METALit's not that lifes too short, it's that your f rost-spire is. Slipknot are about as metal as a piece of wood
dude thats not something to mess around with. my town is not that big and we have 2 music stores here, theres all kinds of people who are a hell of alot better then synester, if you dont know thw answer yet it eddie all the way man.
"I used to live in a room full of mirrors; all I could see was me. I take my spirit and I crash my mirrors, now the whole world is here for me to see."
I like Eddy Van Halen for the solos alot. Avenged sevenfold is okay but kind of overrated. I say that EVH has the better end just because of the song "Eruption".
eddie is far better.... its not just eruption its the fact of him having way more experience, can play longer without tirieing and he is rated in the top 1-25 in the worlds best guitar players for about 10 years now
"that 70s show" eric says to donna:"donna, u do realize that we're argueing about, kelso; a guy who doesnt understand how hotdogs survive in the wild, without eyes."
some people are hot, some people are not, if they were to rot... I'd probably just go smoke some more pot.-jarrod cornelius
Man, i learned some of those techniques in fucking guitar world haha. Is that all he does? Watch the pros do it slowed down? I bet you that is all he does actually.. fuck thats not a bad idea...
okay okay i can tell it's obvious that ALOT of people don't like syn. and alot of people love EVH. well here. take this into consideration. Synester Gates is someone to look up to when you're starting out and progressing. He has good tone and great speed. Granted some of his stuff isn't like EVH it still sounds good. He is still someone not to bash on. The question is if you can do all that he does. If you can Power To YA! If you can't then don't say anything. As for the whole EVH vs. Syn. Eddie. Hands Down. One of the most influential guitarists EVER. But it wasn't a question of "Do you think Synester Gates sucks?" no. it was "who would win. evh or syn gates?" so just reply with who you would think. and don't bash someone. when you get as famous or even more and alot better than either. then brag. until then. shut up.
Eddie Van Halen is only one of 100 AMAZING guitar players. It just depends on your style.
