what you could try is screaming but less stronger than you intend, once you get use to that you could try getting deeper and deeper.

you know how you're not supposed to drink milk or have cough drops or eat skittles before singing, because it makes your spit all phlemy? well a kid i know who's a pretty good screamer usually has a coughdrop or two before screaming, and it helps protect his voice and makes it all...screamy...it's good, try that. also i suppose you could run your mic through some distortion...that would help i guess...

From my experience, distortion pedals on mics suck balls. instead of screaming try to alter the pitch of your voice. this gives you all the sound and not as much strain. it has always done well for me, i can scream better than most my crazy over-distroted,cant tel a word from a cat getting hit by a bike metal head freinds. hope that helps you out

it's like lifting weights, when you first start you get muscle pains and your body has to recover, but after a while you can pump iron every day and become stronger without any pain.so you need to scream every day,and after a while you never lose your voice again.the first time I sodomized my girlfriend she couldn't walk for a week, now I can park my bike up her dirt road every single day.

anyway tring "gritting" your voice rather than than strainign it till a scream comes outlike dave mustaine might do when he does a sorta iyrrrreeeahh kinda thing.or try talking like smeagle from lotr and shotuing at the same time for those cradle type things.

(please note i do not agree with using distortion with vocals, it's cheap, kinda like autotuning your voice way to much *coughFallOutBoy*cough* and nowhere near as impressive as someone who can actually make it sound like they are ripping their voice to shreds)
