Does anyone have tips on how to learn to sing, or maybe knows a site about it like cyberfret.com for the guitar? I'd like to learn it but I don't have the resources for it or know how to find them.

Singing class is not an option for me (yet ).

P.S.: I guess this is the right place for these questions.

Um, it depends on what kind of music you are going to be singing.

Well, metal eventually.
But I don't know the "basics" yet (as far as there are "basics"). Right now I can't even hit the right notes most of the time (as far as I've heard myself).
I'm just looking for a way to see if I could learn to sing and if I like it without having to pay for lessons.

I'm generally convinced that one can learn anything if he/she tries.

Listen to music and sing along! It's a great way to get good, really!

This note should be pretty easy to understand.

Don't hold your voice back... don't sing too high or too low... And try to sing very clearly.

Or find a death metal band and learn to growl.

My problem with singing is that I'm extremely embarrased cause my voice is too high but what I'm getting at is that the best way to learn to sing is to not care what other people think.

no milk/dairy no smoking no drinking achohol no drugs and try and cut back on screaming. also stretch your vocal chords alot by doing exersices, the american idol people actually have a pretty good video of exersices, they sell it in media play by the guitars and stuff. also dont try and sound like anyone specific make it your own. also drink lots of warm water or herbal tea. cold drinks are bad for you because they make your vocal chords tense. the hot or warm loosens them up. try and avoid soda at all costs.

i recently aquired one of these

I don't really think you need lessons to learn how to sing. It's pretty easy; it should come naturally. Just listen to the tips other people beat me to writing. Oh, and shouldn't this be in the Vocal forum?
