go with a schecter. those guitars are so good. and are pretty cheap.

I was wondering about Schecters because I'm really interested in the C-1 Semi-Hollow.

You should take a look at some Ibanez or LTD guitars for the $500.00 price range The people who would recommend Epigarbage or a Tacocaster have much to learn about Guitars !! Epigarbage guitars are WAY overpriced, there's no value for the $$ there, and their cheaper models flat out SUCK !! Tacocaster's feature Garbage hardware and the single coil pickups SUCK when the amp is pushed into distortion due to the single coil hum. As a general rule you always get what you pay for when it comes to guitars, shop around and you'll do just fine.

Well thats a pretty bold statement.....not gonna touch it!!!

But I would have to suggest a Schecter for the money the original poster was asking. I have a C-1 and a Gryphon, the latter is in that price range.

I got a Schecter Gryphon Series for something like $300-$350 (cant remember) and it is a pretty awesome guitar.
