I purchased my HD28 for about $2200 in January 2007 at Alto Music located in Fishkill, NY.

The HD-28 is visually stunning; the ebony fretboard is becoming more rich as the oils of my fingers soak in. The rosette is classic and tasteful, and nothing speaks to the family tradition and history than the simple but elegant Martin headstock. |

Of my 4 acoustics, the one I play most often is my HD28 because its the most playable guitar I have. The neck is less deep than most other acoustics I've played, and it fits my hand beautifully. You, of course, have to determine how it fits your hand and playing style. |

The sound is extremely well balanced and is more full and "mature" (complex) than my Gibson dreadnaughts and the D-28s I've tried. The guitar resonates beautifully and its crystal clear sound makes it near perfect for strumming an even pace or winding up a funky groove. The sound and the wonderful playability of the HD-28 make it, in my opinion, quite versatile. However, if I were a better flat picker I would probably opt for a D-28 which is louder and has a little more punch. |

I certainly don't put the guitar through the ringer, so I may not be the best judge of the guitar's durabilty. That said, I tune it at the start of each session (of course) and then play for hours. |

I chose the HD-28 because of the extraordinary playability and the sound of chords which are so rich in harmonious major overtones. From open chords to those far up the neck, they ring out in apparent joy. More than any other guitar I've played, this one seems to have a real personality. Of course each individual guitar will have its own unique personality; if you can, play a few HD-28s, so you can find the one that is most excellent for you. |

I got this guitar as a gift from my uncles. This is the most beautiful, expressive instrument i've ever laid my hands on. I recieved it new just two weeks ago (September 16, 2006). On musiciansfriend.com they have it for sale at $2500, but it lists at $3299. I am still speechless and in shock that I have such an amazing instrument. If you are looking for something that will last you(or someone else) the rest of their life, and be completely satisfied, this is as far as you need to go.

This seems basic, but plays fast and smooth. The tuners also are great quality, i've only had to tune it once, and that was when i switched tunings. |

As soon as I started playing this guitar, my skill seemed to increase. The neck is so smooth, and there is no such thing as a 'buzz' from a bad note. The harmonics are equally amazing, and are soooooo much easier to achieve than on any other guitar I've played. |

There is no unwanted noise.... ever. When you tell this guitar to play a note, it plays it. The sound is very rich and warm. It has an amazing deep end, and the highs are crisp. This guitar performs better than any other I've heard live, and I live in a town surrounded by music. |

I've played at church twice already. With my other guitars I always have to tune right before I start playing, with this guitar I didn't even feel the need to bring my tuner to church with me. |

This guitar meets and exceeds any expectations I could have ever dreamed about having for an upgrade to my other acoustic ($100 Johnson, lol.... $2400 upgrade). I've always heard people talk about how their new piece of equipment inspires them to become better, well, now I know first hand... I've never played so much guitar in my life, hopefully I'll be able to take care of myself enough to not get carpal tunnel. |
