  Features

This guitar has a 3-way toggle, Tone, and Volume controls. It could have more in the way of an equalizer. Minenulls bridge was a little off-center causing a undesireable metallic grinding sound on the low e string. The two humbucking pickups arennullt the best, but are okay. They sometimes lack definition when distorted, but have a fairly good clear tone.

  Playability

As I mentioned before, the pickups lack definition when distorted, but has a fairly good clear sound. I would recommend upgrading to the EMG-81 active pickups if you are into metal. The neck is very smooth. It is not varnished, so it does not have as much friction when your hand is sweaty. It is moderately comfortable when sitting. There is a small "projectoin" that looks cool, but can be painful after extended periods. On stage, this thing looks sweet.

  Quality

There is very little noise generated by this guitar, but sometimes it does create a lot of feed-back...so watch out on stage. It is very good for beginners, or someone who is hard on guitars

  Durability

It is very reliable. The tuning stays except when experinging large temperature differences such as leaving it in a cold car during einter and then bringing it into a warm house. This guitar is very well built and can probably take some hits. I do not have any actual experience because I usually am very careful with my guitars.

  Overall

The ESP f-50 is one of the best guitars you can get for 199 USD. If you have approx. 400 USD, buy this in red and upgrade the pickups to the EMG-81 series. It is good as a beginner guitar with no upgrades. I am considering the F-400. It has a better inlay on the fretboard and the EMG-81 pickups as well as a flamed maple top. If you are a professional, get the F-400. If you are a beginner, get the f-50 or F-250.
