I bought my 1985 Yariri DY-90 in 1991 from a friend for $500. At the time a new one would have cost about $1200. It was a good deal for me as I needed a better guitar.

A beautiful guitar, it has proven to be more than the looks of its gold keys and abbalon enlay. As age has taken on, the indian rosewood continues to be its advantage. The tonal quality surpasses most American models of the dreadnaught except the Martin D-28. Itnulls just a notch shy of it. For electrics, the previous owner installed a Shadow pickup which continues work well (though I still prefer a miked Shure-57). The only drawback is the abalone enlay on the bridge. When a piece starts working loose, you cannullt tell it from fret buzz. |

With a slim line neck, it is very comfortable to play and the intonation is very good. |

Of all the dreadnoughts Inullve played, the only one that has an advantage is the Martin D-28. But, playing beside my frends for all these years, wenullve noticed this instrument catching up the Martin....age |

The neck has always been solid. Soon after I bought it, I had Kent Everett (Everett Guitars) set it up. Last year I made a minor adjustment to accomidate a set of Elixer light guage as I love tight action. |

Inullve rated this guitar excellent mainly because of its price and quality compared to a Martin D-28. Trust me, Inullve only delayed buying a 28 because of the performance of this Yairi. |

I bought this guitar from Ebay in October 2004 for around $700.00. The guitar is about 25 years old and Ebay was the bast place to look.

The Alvarez Yairi DY-90 is a basic Acoustic Dreadnought. It doesnnullt really have any "features", but that is not why you buy a dreadnought. It has what everyone wants in a dreadnought guitar, beauty and a great sound. It has gold tuners and more abalone than one can imagine. The DY-90 is one of the most beautiful guitar I have ever seen. The second is itnulls sound. The sound of the DY-90 is absolutely amazing. The sound is loud and full, ecerything you would want in a guitar. |

This guitar plays well but for someone who has mastered fretting and especially bar chords this could be an issue. if you have trouble fretting this may not be the guitar for you. I own acoustic guitar that frett easier, but they sacrafice playability for sound. This is a choice everyone has to make. |

As I stated earlier, the sound quality is unrivaled. This intrument does not have a pickup but this can be easily added. Except for maybe a Martin this is one of the best acoustic guitars I have ever played. |

The fact that these guitars are 20 to 30 years old and still are highly sought after should account for their durability. As I stated earlier, mine is over 25 years old and the frets, fret board, and neck are still in excellent. This guitar has the normal dings on it and the gold on the tuners are wrn somewhat but this guitar has proven the test of time. |

Overall this is an outstanding guitar that is well worth the going price on ebay. If you want the best acoustic money can buy and money is no option buy a Martin. If that is not possible, buy a Yairi DY-90. |
